Richard Biggs

Richard was first elected to the Council in 1993 and has served as Mayor in 1997-98, 2005-06, 2019-2020 and due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Richard continued to serve as Mayor in 2020-2021.

Richard is also a Councillor for Dorset Council

Richard says ...

"I have been a member of the Town Council since the early 1990s. I have lived in the county town nearly all my life.

I like to think that I have been an active Councillor and I have served on most committees over the years; I have also had the honour of serving two previous terms as the Town Mayor.

I am in employment as a civil servant as well as serving for the new Dorset Council. I am a keen walker and cyclist, and would like to make the Town more accessible for these activities. I'm also interested in local history and passionate about the environment and want to minimise the impact that the Town Council have on it as well as the improvements that we can all make together."
